Soni Razdan makes her streaming debut with Yours Truly, a short film that’s now streaming on the ZEE5 platform. Soni Razdan plays a woman who’s nearing retirement, and someone who thinks that she’s found true love. Here’s our complete review of the film.

Soni Razdan plays a teacher who’s nearing retirement. She has few people in her life, like her neighbor, played by Pankaj Tripathi and her sister, played by Ahana Kumra. As she strides down a life of loneliness, she comes across an unknown, unnamed voice that calls out to her, her secret admirer. As time passes, she also falls in love with the idea of having an admirer and begins writing letters to him – wondering if they will ever reach them. Reach they do, and what happens next forms the rest of the story.

What’s Wow Soni Razdan does an excellent job of bringing the bittersweet emotion of not just falling in love but also pining for it. While Razdan does a stellar job, Ahana Kumra brings out her ‘art cinema’ side and is a revelation. Pankaj Tripathi is great as the neighbor who has an agenda of his own. The ending is a stunner that will leave the audience with a pang in their being.

In very basic terminology, Yours Truly is a film about nothing – the mobile generation won’t even bother with what’s happening in the film – if it was happening in real life, around them. So, one needs a maverick director and a cast experience well beyond their years to bring such a scenario to life – and Sanjoy Nag gets everything correct.
