Netflix is bringing another India centric story with Selection Day, a web series about two boys whose father has a dream of getting them selected into the Indian cricket team. The series stars Mohammad Samad, Yash Shashank Dholye, Rajesh Tailang and Mahesh Manjrekar. The trailer for the series released recently and promises an intense, gritty portrayal of people who live in small towns but have dreams bigger than their ambitions.
The web series is based on a book written by Aravind Adiga and will stream on Netflix from December 28. Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network and Anand Tucker’s Seven Stories has produced the series. During a press interaction, Tucker said:
“I hope audiences from Minnesota to Mombasa to Mumbai will all love this show. The fantastic creative partnership we have with Netflix has enabled us to bring this universal story of family, cricket and coming of age to thrilling life.”
This is the third India based web series that’s coming from Netflix’s stable and the first slice-of-life story from India. Netflix earlier streamed Ghoul and Sacred Games, a supernatural and a crime thriller, earlier.
