  • Melissa Raju Thomas and Heena Dsouza create a poignant modern love story

Heena Dsouza directs Faded, a short film that’s the most modern love story the audience will get in recent times. The short film tells the story of a young couple, played by Melissa Raju Thomas and Arjun Radhakrishnan and takes the audience through the ups and downs of their love life.

Younger content creators are looking at the different facets of love stories. As the character says, there’s more to love than moving on or living happily ever after. Every now and then, we meet couples who are sticking together, and the why of it really makes no sense to anyone who’s been around them.

What’s wow: Faded does have a very fresh, different take on love stories. The concept of low key moving on was explored earlier in the Zee5 short film Toothbrush, but Melissa Raju Thomas takes that concept a few steps ahead. The performances by Melissa and Arjun are good enough. The screenplay, which is not linear, will keep the audience hooked and invested in what’s essentially a modern love story.
