A few days back, the digital trailer of Zero Kms launched, and introduced us to a stark, dark world with characters played by Naseeruddin Shah, Tanmay Dhamania and others. The series, directed by the celebrated Q, who has earlier directed projects like Gandu and Brahman Naman, talks about human trafficking in one of the most exotic locales in India, Goa. The trailer promises an intense, gritty experience and with the acting chops of the likes of Naseeruddin Shah, this one seems to be a winner already. The series will stream on the digital arm of Zee, Zee5, from May 30. Zero Kms also stars Satyadeep Mishra, Vaibhav Upadhyay, Rupali Bhosale and others.
The trailer introduces us to the protagonist, Arjun, who is falsely convicted in a human trafficking case and comes out a hardened man, but now has to ensure that another crime isn’t committed.
Crime seems to be the in thing for streaming series, with all streaming platforms looking to have at least one big web series centred on either true crime or fiction. Other web series like Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc., have some of the most popular crime-based web series in their arsenal. It makes sense for the home grown streaming content networks to fill their inventory with web series about crime.
