ZEE5 takes Ruskin Bond’s spine chilling short stories the web way

The author with a universal appeal – loved by readers across age groups – writes ghost stories. Yes, you read that right. We have been devouring those spookies wholeheartedly.

ZEE5 has announced the release of its web series Parchayee, produced by Banijay Asia and Opus Communication, based on 12 short ghost stories written by Ruskin Bond. The first episode starts streaming on 15th January. The first four episodes, directed by VK Prakash and Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, are based on these stories – The Ghost in the Garden, The Wind on Haunted Hill, Wilson’s Bridge and The Overcoat.

Over a year ago, a beautifully crafted short film ‘The Black Cat’ based on Ruskin Bond’s short story of the same name, was released by Lorean motion Pictures. It starred Tom Alter (as Ruskin Bond) and Shernaz Patel as an English witch. The film was much praised by Ruskin Bond himself.

The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan winner, Ruskin Bond was born in 1934, in British India. He lives in Mussoorie and the influence of his life in the hills, is seen in his works. Apart from fiction for children, Ruskin Bond has also written anthologies and novels. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award last year.
