Streaming has become a behemoth, with the demand surpassing supply by leaps and bounds. The scenario in 2019 is much different than the scenario in 2017. In ’17, only a restricted audience went online to consume content. Since the past year, a whole new breed of cord cutters would rather invest in a heavy data plan and a streaming device than traditional cable. This brings to us several series and films that are TV at heart but streaming in execution. Here’s our complete review of the ZEE5 Original, Bhoot Purva.

A young collegian, Aarav (Rishabh Chadha) tries to woo a girl but dies when he consumes poison. However, it’s found later that the guy shouldn’t have died. Thanks to an ever busy Yamraaj (Baba Sehgal), he’s now stuck between heaven and hell. The only person who can save him is Purav (Omkar Kapoor), a man who’s thought to be useless – not just by his family but the entire locality that he stays in. Now, Aarav should take Purav’s help to get his life – and his love -back.

What’s wow : Bhoot Purva proves one thing – there’s nothing wrong with television programming if done in the right way. Bhoot Purva has a tightly written script and depends heavily on the old school charm. Omkar Kapoor plays his role well in this campy, frothy comedy that has a good use of fantasy elements, Rishabh Chadha as the namby pamby Ghost who doesn’t know what to do next is good too. The screenplay and the script have enough gags to make this a one time, comfortable viewing for the entire family.

What’s Blah : Bhoot Poorva is a good watch, but it is one of those watch and forget series. It is classic tv, but at least it doesn’t rely on regressive ideas to get the show going.
