ZEE5 has now announced that it is launching in over 190 countries globally. The streaming service from Zee Entertainment is currently not launching in USA and China. The platform will be present across Android, iOS and web formats. The revenue model for the service will depend on the market. In the Pakistani and Bangladeshi market, the service will have a combination of AVoD (Advertising video on demand) and SVoD (subscription video on demand). It’s introductory offers range from $2 to $10.
In other markets, like United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands will have a different subscription model altogether. Commenting on the same, Amit Goenka, Chief Executive Officer, ZEE5 International and Z5 Global said, large markets will have freemium offering, and smaller markets will be served SVoD offering.
Further commenting on the international brands that are now eyeing the Indian digital market, he said that though Netflix and Amazon Prime may be having some Indian content, it will not the way they make.
In a move to cater to a bigger audience, the streaming service is dubbing its series and also producing content in local languages for foreign audiences.
