Zee Entertainment will launch its digital content platform Zee5 in second half of 2018. This video-on-demand platform will replace its existing VOD platforms OZEE and DittoTV. The subscribers of these platforms will be auto-upgraded to this new platform.
Zee5 will follow a ‘freemium’ revenue model – a mix of free and premium. Chamli Tennakoon is the CEO of Zee5.
In a media interaction, Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises, said that Zee5 will offer an amalgamation of live television, Indian shows, internationals shows, movies and videos in varied languages.
This news means that channel that are already offering content to the digital audiences – Star India (hotstar.com), Colors (VOOT) and Sony (SonyLiv) – have some more competition.
Here’s hoping it translates to better content too.
