Mona Singh, better known for playing the title role of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin on TV, and on the digital platform was seen in ALTBalaji’s Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, will soon be seen in another web series. Mona will be seen in TVF’s new series Yeh Meri Family. In a freewheeling chat, Mona talks about the series and about the rise of digital medium.
What kind of reactions have you received for the trailer of Yeh Meri Family?
Everybody is finding it nostalgic. Since my character is very different than what I have played till date, they say this is not Mona Singh. A lot of details have gone into my look. When people will watch the show, they will be able to relate to it. It is high on nostalgia.
How was your own childhood in the 90s?
I was a brat as a child, but those were innocent days. We used to do a lot of outdoor games, but today’s kids don’t know anything but screens. We didn’t have much pressure to perform, unlike the kids these days.
What was the mood on the sets, with four kids around?
I get along well with kids. When my dad was serving in the army, and they had army parties, all the kids would come to our house. We used to have full on bacha party in the house; I was the badi didi for the kids and entertained them. The cupcakes I cooked for them were such a mess. Working with the kids in Yeh Meri Family was not at all stressful. Otherwise, kids generally forget their lines and continuity.
You have worked with ALTBalaji before this. What kind of working style does TVF have which is known for its humorous content?
In digital, the scripts are always ready; they put in a lot of effort into prepping for the series. What is special about TVF is that they are the first ones to introduce digital content in India. Their thought process is very clear.
What is the last content you binge-watched?
I only binge-watch. I recently finished watching ALTBalaji’s The Test Case, I can’t wait for episodes. Even for my own show Kehne Ko Humsafar, I waited for all the episodes to come online. I also watched Lust Stories.
