Netflix is signing up with a variety of content creators for films and series on the streaming platform. Looks like the latest addition to that list is WWE. WWE Studios has been around for a while and has made a handful of films, and most of them were direct to video stuff. The first film that WWE Studios produced was the 2002 Dwayne Johnson starrer The Scorpion King. Since then, it had films like The Rundown, Walking Tall, See No Evil, The Marine and others.
With WWE Studios tying up with Netflix, an interesting question whether WWE programming will find its way on Netflix arises. WWE Programming is extremely popular with the target age group and the sports programs are some of the biggest pop culture phenomena, including Wrestlemania – which is less than two months away. Right now, they have about thirteen films in production – though there’s no word out which of them will find their way to the Netflix network.
