The streaming platforms have yet to get an incredible swords and sandals franchise. Spartacus worked well for BBC and is now available for streaming, and into this mix comes Witcher. Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy franchise is most famous for the games that it has spawned and now will become a web series for Netflix.
The franchise consists of three games about traveling monster hunters who live and fight in a fantasy world, killing monsters as they travel. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will be the executive producer of the series. She has co-written The Defenders and Daredevil for Netflix earlier. With this, Netflix could actually have a good franchise to beat HBO’s Game of Thrones, which returns in 2018 with what is the final season of the series.
