The web audiences get a glimpse of what happened with Campa Cola society and its residents when the society was ordered to be razed by the local authorities, through the newest web series Home by ALTBalaji.

The series starts by introducing the Sethi family who resides in Mumbai. It consists of a lawyer grandfather played by Parikshit Sahni, father (Annu Kapoor) and mother (Supriya Pilgaonkar), and their two kids Amol Parashar and Chetna Pandey.

Parikshit Sahni is in the court fighting against the municipality for not providing his society water throughout the month, despite charging them for the entire month. This allegation proves dangerous as the opposing council brings out another point – they society itself is illegal.

This new development turns everyone in the society against the Sethis. The family has their own set of problems to solve. Annu, once ran a successful travel agency, but after a few unwise decisions is now working for an agency unwillingly. This forced Supriya to start a catering business at home. To add more to their problems, Amol nurses a dream to go to USA for higher studies.

Their daughter Chetna, who had a love marriage with a divorcee recently, has fought with her husband and now wants to separate from him. Amidst all this, the Sethis are now fighting with their fellow society residents. After much persuasion, the members realise that it is the builders’ fault that their society will be demolished. They try to work with the local politician to save their society but it backfires.

What Wow? The series doesn’t try to make a hill out of a mole. Like when Supriya fears she has breast cancer or when Parikshit is fighting for his life, the series doesn’t have any out of context dialogues or expression. And that works for the series since it is made for the online medium and not TV which is home to loud expressions and over emotional dialogues. Directed by Habib Faisal, the series does have its own identity different from other series that have come on the platform.

Having said that, it’s not that there aren’t many emotions in the show. Amol’s character deciding to stay back is handled carefully and practically.

What’s Blah? Over the six episodes that are currently put up on the platform, there is nothing to complain about.

Parting Shot: Home is a good attempt by ALTBalaji, and stands out from the other shows it has come out with. It’s a family drama without any over the top emotions.
