People consider gaming as a hobby and not a profession in India. It is only recently that people are becoming aware of how gaming can be a high paying profession. Now, Y-Star Cine and Television will soon launch Gamer, a web series that will talk about the life and times of gamers.

The web series will tell the story of four people who come together to win a gaming competition. Gamer stars newbies Nitish Mawkin, Mahir Pandhi, Siddharth Sharma and Parshant Goswami. The supporting cast includes Karim Hajee, Ashish Warang and Ivan Rodrigues.

Gaming has yet to get a big boost in India. Earlier, a television channel made a reality series about a group of gamers who competed against each other, playing the popular MMO Call of Duty. However, that series didn’t really take off and was wrapped up soon.  Rahul Dev hosted that series.

There is a gaming presence in India, but it requires a boost. A few years ago, there used to be a gaming competition that had a grand prize of around 10 lakh rupees. However, the games were only either the common action ones or racing ones. This web series might just be the boost that’s needed for the gaming community.

Y-Star Cine and Television has earlier given short films and documentaries like Shatika – The Undraped, D.E.A.D and feature films like ISKOOL BAG.
