Are you in the mood for some simplicity? Then the first episode of Dice Media’s What The Folks is now streaming. Giving an atypical view of the ‘staying with your in-laws’ scenario, this series has the ‘damaad of the family’ coming over, and making adjustments ‘to fit in’.
Veer Rajwant Singh plays Nikhil, the loving husband from Delhi who agrees to stay with his in-laws on his wife’s insistence on his business trip to Mumbai. Anula Navlekar plays the ‘natkhat saali’ Akshata, who teases her brother-in-law at the drop of a hat. As Nikhil lands, he loses his mobile phone at the airport. What follows is a complete mindboggling, disastrous, irritating, funny chaos that Nikhil doesn’t know how to handle.
What’s WOW? The unique take on the ‘sasur-damaad’ relation is a feast for the eyes. And it just re-instates The Digital Hash’s belief that no one does ‘uncommon’ better than the digital medium.
In today’s world, most of the youngsters have a love marriage. While they are in perfect sync with each other, their parents have a rough time adjusting to their kid’s spouse. And it is high time someone explored this.
Veer does his act as the ‘trying-to-fit-in’ damaad with elan; you actually start feeling bad for him after sometime. Vipin Sharma shines as the over-enthusiastic father-in-law.
What’s Blah? The only thing that we missed in the first episode is lack of information, which is always the case with a new series. But that will surely go away in the second episode.
Parting Shot: The series is a must-watch for people with a ‘quirky’ sense of humor. We are eagerly waiting for the next episode as Nikhil gears to cover up his mistakes.
