TheDigitalHash.com has been a witness to the meteoric rise of Netflix. We all are flixated (fixated with Netflix!!!) and the streaming giant is now aiming to take this fixation to another level – 40,000 feet to be precise.Netflix is banking high on inflight streaming, and it will extend bandwidth-efficient technology built for mobile devices to airline carriers across the globe.

This news translates into low-cost or free Wi-Fi entertainment to passengers, and more views for Netflix. Netflix announced the new inflight initiative for airline carriers at the 2017 APEX Expo.

The streaming giant will use mobile-encoding to achieve this, which uses far less bandwidth than a desktop does.

Netflix already has a deal with Virgin America, Aeromexico, Qantas and Virgin Australia to offer free, in-flight Wi-Fi on select aircraft.

For us, this is probably the best travel news. We won’t dread going on flight mode as we can continue flixing (Yay!)
