Vimeo made a big announcement last November about launching a subscription service sometime in 2018. It has now decided to abandon the project.  This news comes just after Vimeo hiring Paramount’s Alana Mayo to head it’s original content division. She’s been in that post since March. Vimeo has had success with their original series, including High Maintenance, Darby Forever and The Outs.  With this, Vimeo has opted out of the subscribers-only race, that’s being spearheaded by Netflix and Amazon Prime on foreign shores.
