Suzanna Mukherjee has an enviable career. Starting as a MTV Roadies contestant, she now has a successful web series to boast of – Married Woman Diaries on SonyLiv, apart from featuring in The Streaming Calendar 2018. TheDigitalHash.com caught up with the lovely actress to have an exclusive tête-à-tête.

Excerpts.

After TV and films, why did you want to shift to digital entertainment?

The kind of content you are getting on web, short films, web series, video it is way more experimental, and extremely relevant. The concepts tried online are great concepts. There is scope for filmmakers and actors to experiment and break the mold. It is easily accessible and most of it is free, that is what is adding to its popular.

Your act as Shweta in Married Woman Diaries on SonyLiv has been highly appreciated.

I have never played a married woman before. I have never felt that attached in my life ever. But it was a fun experience to play Shweta, the stand-up comedian, who is loved by her husband. The chemistry between the couple really appealed to me. When I read the script, I knew I wanted to do something like this. Especially after the range of thrillers and horrors that I had done, this was a breath of fresh air.

Do you want to try stand-up in real life?

There is a stand-up comedian in me. That thought terrifies and excites me at the same time. I think I am funny, but other people don’t think so. If I get a great writer to back up my thoughts and write-them well I would love to give it a hand.

What about a horror web series?

It takes a lot from you to do a horror film. I want to distance myself from that (zone) for a while.

Are you similar to Shweta?

No, we both are different entities altogether. Shweta is very mature as a character she understands and handles things very well – especially with the kind of mother, mother-in-law and husband she has. If I was in the same situation, I would have probably murdered them all by now (laughs).

Which web series did you last binge-watch?

I really liked The Handmaid’s Tale that streams on Hulu. It is a futuristic series based on an era, where the environment is in a bad shape. Due to the pollution, women fertility is affected and there are few women who can bear children. The government has kidnapped them, in a way, the few fertile women in the country and enslaved them. They are used as handmaids to bear the children of the wealthy and influential men.

If not an actor, what would you be?

My goal is to be a filmmaker, very soon. I want to do my content, apart from following others’. I want to be a director, stylist and a writer.
