Foreign TV is yet to make inroads into the Indian entertainment scene, and that’s happening series by series. Earlier, the Starz Series Spartacus found its way to Netflix. Now, SonyLIV is bringing the first season of Power to Indian audiences – one look at the story is reason to understand why – the series is about a drug lord who’s struggling to keep a difference between his legitimate business, a night club and his embroilment with the drug trade.

While Indian audiences will be able to see the first season, the series has five seasons with another one already scheduled for a 2019 release on Starz. Power stars Omari Hardwick. Joseph Sikora, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, 50 Cent, Michael Rainey Jr., Shane Johnson, Jerry Ferrara, Sung Kang, La La Anthony, Rotimi Akinosho, William Sadler, Andy Bean, David Fumero, Brandon Victor Dixon, Larenz Tate.

Streaming platforms have done this before – getting foreign series on the streaming platforms in India. Earlier, Hotstar brought Game of Thrones to India. Then, Netflix brought the short-lived Quantico to Indian audiences. Amazon Prime has a whole clump of tv series that they streamed, like The Good Wife, Two and a Half Men, Two Broke Girls, so on and so forth.
