Set in the hills of Shimla, Papa is a film about a mother-son duo, trying to lead a normal life after the death of the father of the family. The mother is wheel-chair bound, which leaves the son to do all the chores of the house, besides earning a leaving.
But there is a dove which resides with them, which the mother thinks is her deceased husband. But the son is adamant that it is just a bird, and not his Papa. One fine day, he decides all this madness is too much for him to handle.
What’s WOW? The sheer simplicity of the film is very appealing. Also the way the middle class lifestyle of Shimla is portrayed adds to this appeal.
What’s Blah? There’s nothing irritating or wrong that we found in the film. The romantic track of the son and the neighbor didn’t add much to the narrative.
Parting Shot: The film is a good attempt to portray that some beliefs, though can’t be proven, are true.
Director and Writer: Siddharth Chauhan
Cast: Mohit Singh Parmar, Sushma Kaul, Nandita Aron
