Vivek Agnihotri makes thoughtful films. He is behind some interesting concepts like Hate Story, Chocolate and several others. That he decides to come to the streaming platforms is good news.  That he decides to handle a concept like religious fundamentalism is applause-worthy but does the film maker do justice to the concept, we find out.

The short film is about the keeper of a mosque, named Mohammad, who’s in a kind of delirium about religion and being the upstanding follower of his. The short film then goes on to depict a couple of instances that threaten to shake his devotion to God.

What’s WOW: Agnihotri succeeds in bringing a sensual story to screen and succeeds in bringing to the fore the taboo nature of intimacy that’s propounded on society because of rules and laws that are created by humans themselves. Performances by Khushboo Upadhyay, Mayukh, Manoj Sharma and Ramesh are good and create a connect with the audience.

What’s Blah? Mohammad & Urvashi is a thought provoking film and asks several questions that have difficult answers. However, some aspects of the screenplay might seem off – and require a suspension of disbelief on the audience’s part.

Parting Shot: Mohammad & Urvashi is a well-made film

Writer and Director: Vivek Agnihotri

Cast: Mayukh, Khushboo Upadhyay, Manoj Sharma, Ramesh
