Women face many problems in a day to make their life meaningful, but the most horrifying of it is abuse.

National Award winning director Ashwini Chaudhary has made a short film #IAmSorry which tries to highlight the plight of women. Saala Khadoos fame actress Ritika Singh is the narrator, who talks of the plight a woman faces through a poem and how she is pushed towards suicide.

Ritika talks about women being sexually harassed, mentally abused with acid attack threats, and much more. Throughout the narration, there are shots of a carefree childhood devoid of all these evils with a song playing in the background. The film ends at a strong note with the women (in the poem) deciding to commit suicide to end the torture.

What’s WOW? The treatment of this short film is commendable in more than one way. The poem and the song add greatly to the narration of this thought provoking film. Men passing lewd comments at women, treating them as a sex object and many other mistreatments are not treated seriously. This film will definitely change that.

What’s Blah? There’s nothing unattractive about the short film.

Parting Shot: An effort like #IAmSorry is admirable. It will definitely make you think about how much women have to endure every day of their life.
