The most innocent and pure relationship in this world is said to be between a mother and a daughter. Whether that’s true or not, several films explore this relation and now the short film format is looking towards this relationship to create stories, Counting Stars is one of them.
This foreign language film is about a young girl who lives with her mother. The mother works as a professional sex worker but that doesn’t seem to have much of an effect on the young girl’s life – until one day the mother finds out a secret that the daughter is keeping from the mother.
What’s Hot: Counting Stars is one of those deeply written short films that have you thinking how many sad stories we are surrounded by, even in our day to day life. The performances by both the actors playing the mother and the daughter are fantastic, giving the short film a whole new meaning.
What’s Blah: Nothing
Parting Shot: One of the few emotional goop short films that are done right.
Director: Maanvi Bedi
