The trailer of RGV ’s ‘Guns & Thighs’ must be the most spoken about web series trailer in recent times. It was heavily criticised for the cuss words and explicit sex scenes. It disappeared for a while from the streaming channel and then returned a few days later.
TheDigitalHash exclusively has it that several scenes from the trailer were shot in a completely different manner. For example, there’s a shot that has actress Flora Saini and another actor, with Flora exposing her inner thigh. The male actor moves the actress’ garment away to show her crotch. Here’s what our source said:
“The shot was supposed to be a master shot. Meaning, both the characters and a bit of the background would be visible, with no visual preference to any of the characters or the props.”
Our source continues.
“But when the scene was finally edited, the camera vouyer-stically stayed on the actress’ crotch for the longest of times. What could have be a mildly titillating, aesthetic shot turned into something extremely vulgar.”
Well, the source couldn’t be farther from the truth. The entire promo opened to extremely negative feedback. People just didn’t like it. Not just the unnecessary titillation, even the loads of action were badly received.
To be fair, the director has a fair amount of freedom as to how he or she wants to frame the shot. But there’s also a fair amount of decency that comes into play when you are shooting a scene – specially something that could be translated into a vulgar manner from script to screen.
Film directors should remember that there’s a very thin line between vulgarity and aesthetic scenes. It is entirely upto them not to go over that line.
RGV rewrote sensuality with Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela. It is interesting to see what he does now.
