Sarong Party Girls is the latest Singapore fiction book to get hooked up to reach the screens. Cheryl Tan Lu-Lien’s best seller will soon have its screen adaptation. Omnia Media, a Los Angeles digital content studio has optioned for the rights to convert it into a one-hour comedic drama series.
The book has a great premise, that of a woman, Jazzy Lim, trying to hook up with a wealthy Caucasian. To do this, she visits various bars and nightclubs, hoping to meet the special someone. There’s no word yet as to whether the series will be made into a web series or a traditional series. However, the author has confirmed that the adaptation will be set in Singapore, like the book.
