Salma Hayek to produce a Mexican series for Netflix

Netflix is known for taking exotic stories from exotic locales and bringing it to the streaming world – like Narcos. Now, Netflix has announced that Salma Hayek will produce a show, Monarca for Netflix. The series will be about a business family in Mexico and a female family member to tries to clean up the family. The series will go into production in fall and hit streaming screens in 2019.

Monarca will star Irene Azuela and Juan Manuel Benral among others. Produced by Salma Hayek and Michael McDonald, it is created bhy Diego Gutirrez. Monarca is written by Fernando Rovzar, Julia Denis, aAna Sofiaq Clerici and Sanda Garcia Velten.

Before Monarca, Netflix has brought a handful of other Mexican web series, like Ingobernable, Club de Cuervos and El Chapo. These series are available for streaming on Netflix.
