Netflix has put all rumours to rest with one announcement. Its first ever Indian web series Sacred Games is all set to premier on July 6. This was announced through a teaser video, wherein the logo and the title design of the web series was also released.

The 40 second teaser establishes the grandiose of the web series. With its Game of Thrones like visuals, the teaser is captivating and makes you want to catch a glimpse of the series.

The Netflix official synopsis of Sacred Games reads, “A policeman, a criminal overlord, a Bollywood film star, politicians, cultists, spies, and terrorists—the lives of the privileged, the famous, the wretched, and the bloodthirsty interweave with cataclysmic consequences amid the chaos of modern-day Mumbai.” The series is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel Sacred Games by author Vikram Chandra.

The protagonist Sartaj Singh, a seasoned and cynical Bombay police officer, is summoned by an anonymous tip one morning, to capture the powerful Ganesh Gaitonde, criminal overlord of the G-Company. As the stakes mount and Sartaj seeks knowledge of his prey, it becomes clear that the game the two players thought they were engaged in is, in fact, part of a much larger scenario, one that expands beyond their city. Radhika Apte plays RAW analyst Anjali Mathur, while Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays Ganesh Gaitonde, the crime under lord of the series.

Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, Sacred Games is an eight-episode long series and the first Indian web series production by Netflix.
