Rap became prominent in the nineties and has since then been an important part of American music. The rap scene is embroiled in controversy and violence and it’s rare that someone goes ahead and makes a documentary about the rapsters and rap in general.
Therefore, the Netflix documentary web series Rapture makes us sit down and take notice. The series is made by Netflix and Mass Appeal and one of the first episodes will feature G-Eazy. In the episode, G-Eazy tells us about his personal life and takes us through the journey from a life full of obstacles that he converts into a life full of opportunities.
The documentary will be an eight-part web series and will feature other rapstars like Nas, Dave East, TI Rapsody, Logic, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, 2 Chainz and Just Blaze. The series will launch March 30.
Netflix is investing heavily in the documentary and docudrama genres as well. This month, they launched Icarus, which was a documentary on the alleged state-sponsored doping by Russia and then also gave a platform to The Mechanism, which covered the current investigation about corruption in the government machinery of Brazil.
