A brainchild of the India Portugal Friendship Association, a film festival that aims to showcase the best of Portuguese short films. And towards this end, they held the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival at the Alliance Francaise de Chandigarh. The festival will soon travel to places like Delhi, Chennai, Goa and Mumbai. The films that were shown comprised of animated short films as well as live action films.  The films were earlier shown at the New York Film Festival.

So, from the story of inanimate objects speaking about how their life was before they ended up in the junk store to the story of a woman who’s sexually abused and is torn between the Catholic idea of anti-abortion, there is a mixed bag of content.

Speaking at the inauguration, the ambassador of Portugal to India, Joan da Canra, said that the festival was aimed towards bringing cultures together and also to promote talent. He also said that the films were mostly made by young filmmakers who wished to experiment with the films.
