Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s childhood is the inspiration behind a short film Chalo Jeete Hain, directed by Marathi filmmaker Mangesh Hadawale. It revolves around a young boy Narendra fondly called Naru who lives in a post-independence Vadnagar. He is greatly inspired by the words of Swami Vivekananda – Wahi jeete hain jo dusro ke liye jeete hai (only those truly live who live for others).

It was recently showcased at The Rashtrapati Bhavan, where Indian President Ram Nath Kovind saw the film, along with Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, MJ Akbar, Rajyavardhan Rathore and others.  It stars child actor Dhairya Darji as Naru. The 32 minute short is produced by Mahaveer Jain and Bhushan Kumar and will release on 29 July on Star Network and Hotstar.

Besides Swami Vivekanand, the film also has reference to freedom fighters such as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who lived for others.  Apart from this venture, PM Modi’s life will also be showcased in a feature film. Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal will be playing the title role in a biopic on Prime Minister, but there are no more details on the project available currently.
