Oscar Pistorius achieved infamy when he was accused of shooting his girlfriend in his apartment in 2013. The paraplegic athlete has been under the limelight since then and an entire nation has still to come to terms with the verdict. Now, a web series based on the incident will now hit Amazon Prime. The four-part documentary will stream from September 6. Vaughn Sivell directs the series, which is made after the film makers had exclusive contact with the key players in the live trial. The documentary series explores the tragedy of Reeva Steenkamp’s death and the impact it had on the South African society.
Reeva Steenkamp, a model, was shot by her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, and he still maintains that he thought it was an intruder. He has now sent a one-year sentence and was given a five-year sentence. Later, he was given a six-year sentence which the Supreme Court finally extended to a period of 13 years and 5 months.
This was one of the most high-profile involving sportspersons and crime after the OJ trial. The OJ trial was turned into a web series which showed on Netflix. So, this is another win for Amazon Prime in the battle for streaming superiority.
