Obamas hire Indian Director for their Higher Ground Production

A while ago, it was announced that Barak and Michelle Obama will be creating content for Netflix. This was after the former President of the United States, Barak Obama appeared on the Larry King show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

The deal was announced in May, under which the Obamas will produce series and original films for the Big N, with the production name being Higher Ground.

The power couple have now signed up Priya Swaminathan, who has an impressive list of previous jobs. The filmmaker was the director of development at Annapurna Pictures. Swaminathan has earlier produced and co-directed Very Young Girls, a 2007 documentary on the teenage prostitutes of New York.

She has previously worked for Dickhouse Productions, the production company that gave us Jackass star, Johnny Knoxville and partner Jeff Tremaine. She was also more recently involved with the Time’s Up Initiative that was to combat sexual harassment
