Here’s proof that regional film-makers are looking at the streaming genre. Three Bengali film-makers are coming together to make a series that will finally make its way to the streaming screens.  Sujoy Ghosh, Pratim D Gupta and Aridam Sil will be making this. The series stars Paoli Dam. It is unclear whether Paoli will be starring in several episodes or just one of them. The series will first be broadcast on a national channel and only later it will be on the streaming screens.

Arindam Sil has been part of several films as director and actor. He made his directorial debut with Aborto and his last directorial was Dhananjay. His first full fledged role was in Tumi Ele Tai in 1999.  His last film as an actor was Sudhu Tomari Jonyo in 2015.

Pratim Gupta is a journalist who’s now turned screenwriter and film director. His first film as a writer director was Paanch Adhay, which starred Priyanshu Chatterjee and Dia Mirza.

Sujoy Ghosh is a critically acclaimed director who made his debut in 2003 with ‘Jhankaar Beats’. He once again hit  the bullseye with Kahaani in 2012 and with Te3n in 2016.

Many regional film-makers are going the web way. Earlier, Rajshri Marathi launched its first Marathi webseries with first time director Tej Pawar. Several short films in regional languages are extremely well received.
