Now, a Short Film on the Abuse That Young Boys Face

Much has been spoken about child abuse with stories revolving around the abuse that the girl child faces. However, the sad truth is that even boys face rampant abuse.

The Government is now increasing awareness about this with the R Premkumar directed ‘Sparsham’, a short film that talks about the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and possible interventions. The film has 10-minute duration.

Various Government bodies like the Social Justice Department, Kerala and the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The Social Justice Department earlier launched a film about child marriage. Scripted by Sharon KPR, the film also has an MLA, Pattambi Muhammed Muhsin, playing the lead role of the counselor.

In a statement, officials said that the film will be screened in schools, colleges, Child Welfare Committees, Gramsabhas at the block and panchayat levels as well as youth clubs.
