The webbing world of digital entertainment has been witnessing a great deal of increase in sexual and adult content. And there are two aspects to this phenomenon. The sad part-everyone thinks that having a sexual reference in their digital content will definitely click with the audiences. The good part – there are some players who know how to deal with this double edged sword called sex.

Sex Ki Adalat

The five-episode series talks all the topics related to sex and are considered a taboo – at least in India. It is set in a 80s style courtroom with a male and female lawyer representing people over various issues. Topics such as masturbation, virginity, sex-selection, pornography, and menstruation and various other social issues that are related to sex take center stage in the web series. The common misconceptions and ill-beliefs related to sexual and reproductive health and rights of the youth and adolescents ‘sex’ as a subject. The series is a Population Foundation of India (PFI) and Bombay Local Pictures Presentation.

Sexplanations

Started in May 2013, Sexplanations is the go-to source for clinical sex edutainment on YouTube. The show is designed around the 4 minutes model and to educate on everything sex. The most viewed episode is Vagina Toys, followed Pelvic Exam, Anal Sex, Masturbation, and Consent. The channel has covered over 220 topics and has reached over 190 nations. Dr. Lindsey Doe the host is also a doctor of human sexuality who runs a private practice in clinical sexology where she works directly with clients on their sexual health goals.

Hannah Witton

Hannah Witton, a British YouTuber creates video blogs and informational content, mostly based around relationships, sex and sexual health, sexting, masturbation, slut-shaming, pornography, virginity, consent, liberation and welfare issues, literature, and travel. Based on her vlogs, Hannah released her debut book, Doing It, concentrating on sex and relationships in April 2017.

Kara Sutra

Kara Sutra has been working on sex positive blogging movement for over 9 years. Her YouTube channel has over 100 videos. They range in topics from how to use female condoms to debunking common STD myths. The aim behind the channel is to create a space where sex could be talked about openly and honestly and without judgment.

Y Films’ Sex Chat with Pappu & Papa

Sex Chat with Pappu & Papa is a 5-part series that attempts to demystify sex and themes around sex including masturbation, pregnancy, condoms, periods and homosexuality in a simple, clean, honest and fun manner. Pappu is a curious 7-year-old boy, who shoots the most outrageous questions related to sex to his Papa. Research clearly shows that sex talk with parents is directly and clearly linked to safer sexual behavior and that is the driving force of this Y-Films series.
