Netflix plans to make a movie based on the bestselling memoir Shoe Dog, by Nike Co-founder and former CEO Phil Knight. He and Frank Marshall will produce the film, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewki will be doing the screenplay.
The memoir was published in 2016; it was on the New York Times bestseller list for more than two years. It was published in over 40 languages. The book traces the journey of Nike from a startup to a global brand.
Knight will tell his story – the risks, the setbacks, competition, etc. – everything and anything that contributed to the journey called Nike.
Marshall on his association with the project had this to say in an official statement, “I have always been fascinated by Phil’s story and how the company came to be. “
Prior to this, Netflix also adapted Sophia Amoruso’s Girlboss into a series, which was cancelled after its first season was streamed. Netflix is also working on documentary series on Formula 1 circuit and Michael Jordan’s life.
