Netflix has got it right with its sci-fi series Stranger Things. Though that series is critically acclaimed and supremely entertaining, it wasn’t much of a visual spectacle. For those who say that sci-fi is sci-fi only when there’s a visual spectacle, Netflix brings to us Altered Carbon, a web series that has a storyline as unique as it can. The series is about how the human conscious of a wealthy man is transported into the body of a soldier, so the wealthy man can investigate his death.

The trailer is mind-blowing, to say the least, and coming hot on heels of Bright, it seems Netflix is really pushing the pedal on spending money on their original series. It introduces the audience to fantastic characters and a breath-taking environment that’s both gritty as well as beautiful.

What’s also important is that the trailer speaks of some breath-taking CGI and amaze-balls action sequences. With even big -budget films shying away from the action sequences, it’s interesting to see how the world of streaming is opening to such shots and sequences.

The series is based on Richard K Morgan’s novel of the same name and stars Joel Kinnaman, Renee Elise Goldsberry, James Purefoy, Kristin Lehman, Martha Higareda, Dichen Lachman, Leonardo Nam, Hayley Law, Chris Conner, Ato Essandoh and Trieu Tran. Miguel Sapochnik directs the pilot episode.

All will be revealed on February 2, 2018.
