Netflix’s real life inspired Central Park Five coming out in 2019

Netflix is looking to release Central Park Five in 2019, a four part series based on a true story.  The series is directed by Ava DuVernay, who is known for movies such as Selma and A Wrinkle In Time and she has also been associated with Netflix documentary 13th, the Original was also nominated for The Oscars. There is no confirmed date as to when the series will be coming out on Netflix.

Netflix has said more about the series in its official write up which reads: The series will chronicle the case of five teenagers of colour who are convicted to the crime they didn’t commit. The series revolves around the lives of Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise also known as Central Park Five. They were accused of raping a woman, Trisha Meili, who came jogging in Central Park.

The show spans from 1989 to 2014, when the five were exonerated and a settlement was reached. It will star Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Felicity Huffman, Michael K Williams, Vera Farmiga and John Leguizamo.
