The streaming world has something for almost everyone, but not much for animal lovers. And it seems Netflix was keeping a tab on that. It has released the trailer of its film Benji, the once-stray canine who goes to great length for his family.

A modern day retelling of the classic, the story of Benji follows one orphaned puppy and Carter and Frankie, two capricious New Orleans school kids who strike up a friendship with the tenacious street dog. When danger befalls them and they end up kidnapped by robbers who are in over their heads, Benji and his scruffy sidekick come to the rescue. The trailer of the film is adorable and you will definitely be intrigued to watch this Netflix Original, all set to release on March 16.

Here’s some interesting trivia: Benji the character was created by Joe Camp in 1974. The character was the focus of many film ventures between 1974 up till 2000. And now this Netflix Original is being produced by Brandon Camp, Joe’s son, for Blumhouse Productions.

Benji as a title will surely help Netflix stand in the same league as Disney, which will launch its OTT in 2019. Disney is known for its family content and also catering to the need of young kids.
