Netflix ropes in GOT actor to play Prince Philip in The Crown

After vowing the audiences for two seasons, the cast of Netflix series The Crown is all set for a change. And guess which Game Of Thrones actor has been roped in to play Prince Philip? Tobias Menzies, who played Edmure Tully aka Blackfish in GOT, will play prince in season 3 and 4. He replaces Matt Smith who played Prince Philip in seasons 1 and 2 of The Crown.

Claire Foy, who played Queen Elizabeth II in the first two seasons, has been replaced by Olivia Colman. Another famous character of the show has also found a replacement. Princess Margaret’s character, which was essayed by Vanessa Kirby, will now be essayed by Helena Bonham Carter.

The show is created by Peter Morgan and will return with its third season but the air date is yet to be announced. The second season of the show left off with the birth of Prince Edward in 1964. The next season is expected to cover the years 1964 to 1976. Besides this, Princess Margaret’s divorce from the Earl of Snowdon will also be showcased in it.

Seasons three and four are expected to be shot back-to-back. The shoot for season three will commence in July this year.
