Netflix has announced the renewal of Jessica Jones for a third season, about a month after the series’ season 2 premiere. A return date has not yet been determined. Jessica Jones is part of a Marvel lineup at the streaming giant, which also includes Daredevil, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

It is notable that Disney ended a 2012 deal with Netflix and pulled all Marvel feature films from the platform, as it gears up to launch its own streaming service in 2019. Marvel properties currently at Netflix include the Jessica Jones spinoff series Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, The Punisher, and The Defenders. The Marvel series on Netflix have been having a good run. Daredevil was renewed back in 2016 for a third season.

One of the many reasons that Jessica Jones is said to have clicked with the audiences is the issues the series focusses on. Matters such as sexual assault and trauma with nuance and depth have been tackled in the show. Besides that the series has had female inclusion behind-the-scenes, as directors, cinematographers, editors, writers, and other key roles.

Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter, Rachael Taylor and Carrie-Anne Moss, is exec produced by showrunner Melissa Rosenberg and Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. The series hails from ABC Studios and Marvel Television. Jessica Jones is part of a Marvel lineup at Netflix that also includes Daredevil, The Punisher, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
