Netflix has released the trailer of its upcoming documentary Shirkers. It is all set to release on October 26. The documentary revolves around the production of what is known as Singapore’s first ever indie film by the same name, that was shot in the year 1992. It was shot by Sandi Tan and her friends Sophie and Jasmine – with Georges Cardona, their American mentor.
After the movie shooting wrapped, Georges ran away with all the footage. Sandi recently got her hands on the film. She is now a novelist, and through the documentary she revisits the time she spent with Georges. The documentary will showcase not just clips from the once lost indie film, but also interactions from the people involved in making the film.
The film has had a screening at the Sundance Film Festival, in its 2017 edition.
