Netflix web series are intriguing, entertaining and at the end of it all, hard hitting. The Big N has been working towards bringing various materials. Their Netflix Originals are some of the best made series in the world – and can stand toe to toe against any TV series or film. Netflix’s newest Original, Safe, just hit the streaming screens and here’s our complete review.
The series is about Tom Delaney, a father who lives in a gated community with his two teenage daughters. While one his daughters has moved on, the other one hasn’t exactly and is finding it difficult to adjust with daily life. That’s when she’s invited to a night party that could have destressed her. Unfortunately, she ends up missing and now Tom must find out where she is.
What’s Wow: Safe is a regular, awesome whodunnit. A typical whodunnit has several twists and turns and this script has it all that would keep the audience hooked. The series is one of the darker web series out there, so that won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. The performances are at par with what we see in top line web series. Michael C. Hall is the centrepiece of the series and he does a good job of bringing the pathos of a parent and a man searching for the truth. The creator Harlan Coben creates a world and characters that the audience will connect with. The rest of the cast is stellar and does a good job of living a world that’s as cosy and comfortable as its dangerous.
What’s Blah: Safe is a mystery, and one of the most difficult aspects is to keep the audience’s interest intact between the high points and the low points of a series. While Safe keeps the interest of the audience, it might not connect with audiences who prefer quick-bang series and stories.
Parting Shot: Safe is a good web series with the right amount of mystery and intrigue.
