The season of sequels is upon us, with Netflix coming up with season 2 of some of their favorite web series. One of the most successful and popular web series on the Big N network was American Vandal, a spoof on sequels that was so funny it physically hurt the guts to laugh. Now, Netflix has brought the second season in this hilarious series and here’s our complete review of the web series.

American Vandal was a unique, quirky web series that worked just because it was so unadulterated and fresh. To make a sequel to something like that is difficult – because then it all becomes mainstream. But of course, the brand and the concept is so strong that sequels need to go, and they should at least have a grain of the tonality that made the original a success.
Fortunately, the second season of American Vandal does that. This one is a sequel with its tongue firmly in cheek, and self-aware of all that got the series going. In this series, another crime is committed in another school, and the friends are invited to make a documentary and find out who the actual culprit is. The very core concept is so hilarious that writing it down in a review will take away the charm. If you haven’t seen it, see it.
What’s Wow: It’s impressive that the show makers have succeeded in taking this one-moment joke ahead into two full seasons. The best thing that works for this web series is that almost all the actors are YouTube celebrities and not mainstream actors – that’s what keeps the web series unique and fresh.
What’s Blah: The series starts off interesting, but the screenplay lags as the series gets ahead. The suspense is still interesting, but the twists and turns seemed a bit lethargic.
Parting Shot: If the first season entertained you, the second one will too!
