Netflix has been staying close to horror ever since its inception. Most of their horror content has been high on horror but less on gore. Even Ghoul, starring Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul in one of India’s first prison-horror, didn’t have much of the horror. That could mostly be because of director Patrick Graham, who confessed in an interview with TheDigitalHash that he tends to keep away from the gory stuff.

However, Gareth Evans, the writer and director of The Raid franchise has no such hang ups and that brings us one of Netflix’s goriest Original Film, The Apostle. The trailer hints at the film being a mix of cult horror, torture horror, secluded horror and so much more. Dan Stevens and Michael Sheen star in this promising web series that is all set to launch on October 12.
Netflix has ventured in horror several times. It created Death Note, the synonymous horror anime film. It also gave place to Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game as well as the period horror 1922.
It remains to be seen how Apostle fares.
