Netflix is known for its superhero, thriller, sci-fi and horror originals – so it is going away from a well tread path with their romance outing – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society. This is a period piece that’s a love story based on a historical novel written by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
So, there’s a lot of background to the book – there’s Nazis, there’s the idea that women are writers too and a love triangle among three very affable characters, played by Lily James, Michiel Huisman and Glen Powell. The supporting cast is Jessica Brown Findlay, Katherine Parkinson, Matthew Goode, Tom Courtenay and Penelope Wilton.
The trailer hints at a Netflix Original film that will be an out and out romantic one and will have some incredible performances. Watch the trailer here:
