Streaming giant Netflix is upping the download feature ante with a smarter feature called Smart Downloads. As per this new feature, its paid subscribers need not worry about the viewed episodes taking space, as Netflix will automatically delete the old viewed episodes to make way for newer, unseen episodes to download.

In 2016, Netflix provided the download feature to its subscribers. This 2018 feature is applicable only to web series and available on Android phones and tablets. This feature was announced on Netflix’s blog post by Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation. In the blog post he wrote, “We know how annoying it can be to go through all your apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that when it comes to Netflix, the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better.”

Prior this year, Netflix also added the short trailer experience for its viewers. It is of a vertical orientation, enabling the subscribers to sample titles as well. Apart from that, Netflix also has a coming-soon feature for its Android using subscribers.
