Netflix continues to awe the audiences with its interesting line up for the year. This time it has impressed with the trailer of its newest Original First Match. The movie stars newcomer Elvire Emanuelle as Monique who has been staying in foster care for years. The Brooklyn teenager is desperately trying to get back to her estranged father who has recently released from prison.
In her bid to get closer to her dad, she decides to join the all boys’ wresting team. Besides Elvire, the film also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Colman Domingo, Jharrel Jerome and Jared Kemp. It is directed by Olivia Newman. It is based on the 2010 short film by Olivia, by the same name and starred Nyasa Bakker and Juan Freire. It is produced by Chanelle Elaine, Veronica Nickel and Bryan Unkeless.
Watching Elvire prepping for the wrestling team in the trailer will definitely inspire you to beat the odds. First Match will premiere on Netflix on March 30.
