As news of Disney retaining the streaming rights for Marvel and Star Wars after 2019, Netflix is taking notice of its popular originals to renew and get more eyeballs. It recently renewed Glow, Ozark, Anne With an E, Friends From College and the latest to join this brigade is Atypical – a coming of age story from an 18-year old autistic boy. The first season, with eight episodes, premiered on Netflix August 11 this year.
Sam was played by Keir Gilchrist in the season who is searching for love and independence. Jennifer Jason Leigh plays his mom, Elsa; Michael Rapaport plays Sam’s father, Doug, while Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam’s scrappy sister, Casey, and Brigette Lundy-Paine plays his therapist, Julia.
