Netflix is gearing up to present a unique Original on the event of International Women’s Day. It has collated a documentary on Deepika Kumari, who became world’s number one archer at the age of 18.

Deepika comes from a poverty-struck village of Ratu, where women’s rights are limited. Learning that archery team members were given a meal a day and a roof over their heads, Deepika, who’d never heard of the sport, asked for a tryout. Within four years, she was the number one archer in the world, and represented India at two Olympics.

Having to overcome the obstacles of a repressive system, she strives to achieve her dream of becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

Ladies First follows the journey of a young woman from her community in rural India to Rio de Janeiro, where she fights to become the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Gold Medal. Ladies First is directed by Uraaz Bahl, and produced by Shaana Levy.

On the web series front, Netflix has recently released the trailer of House of Cards; you can read more about it here. It also announced a renewal for Black Mirror on Twitter today.
