Eros has gone strength to strength in the past few years. It was one of the first content owners to start their own website. Now, there are reports that the Eros Group is looking to sell its entire content library for as much as USD 1 billion – and companies are interested. There’s of course Netflix and Amazon, and joining the ranks of competitors is Apple. Why Apple? Well, Apple has a burgeoning Apple Music app in India. Nothing stops them from setting up a video library for their Indian audiences, does it?

Eros owns more than 3000 Bollywood and regional blockbusters. Eros Now, the online arm  has more than 10000 films in their kitty – most of them are perpetuity rights.

Eros becomes the latest content owner to look to sell its inventory outright. Netflix and Shah Rukh Khan have signed up together.  In the past, Salman Khan broke the Internet with his announcement of his deal with Amazon Prime.  Amazon also has collaborations with Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, T-Series, Vishesh Films and Excel Entertainment  – which means Amazon has digital rights to most of their past and upcoming films.
